A better car for about the same price, in Mombasa about 8 weeks after we buy it for you. Anthony from Outo is with you at every step, and on the call he explains exactly how your money is kept safe.
You pay Outo nothing. Car prices are the dealer’s own.
Why import
Choose from more than the yards near you. Anthony can look for the exact one you want.
For the same budget you can often get a newer year or fewer kilometres. Anthony shows you real examples on the call.
Anthony explains every step and every cost before you decide, and he answers the phone whenever you want to check on your car.
Bila risk
In Japan, a used car’s condition is written down and checked by inspectors who aren’t the seller, more than once, before it leaves the country.
Every car on Japan’s roads must pass a government inspection called shaken: first at three years old, then every two years. Brakes, steering, lights and emissions are all checked.
At Japan’s big car auctions, an auction inspector checks each car and writes an auction sheet: an overall grade, and the scratches, dents and repairs marked on a drawing of the car.
Before a used car leaves Japan for Kenya, it must pass the pre-export inspection KEBS (Kenya Bureau of Standards) requires, done in Japan by QISJ: roadworthiness, the odometer and a radiation check. It sails with a Certificate of Roadworthiness.
The chance of that is close to none, and we do everything to make sure it never happens. Anthony walks you through how, on the call.
About 8 weeks
The 8 weeks start the day we buy your car in Japan and end when it reaches Mombasa. Anthony tells you where yours is whenever you ask.
You choose the car with Anthony, and we buy it. The 8 weeks start here.
The car sails from Japan to Mombasa.
It’s cleared at Mombasa. Duty and taxes are as charged at customs.
Kenyan plates and logbook. Then you drive it home.
Paying for it
A bank normally won’t lend on a car that isn’t in Kenya yet. OutoFi, a financing company that works with Outo, carries the cost until the car is here.
